FAQ

Questions streamers ask

Does Streamiply re-encode my stream?

No. Streamiply only remuxes: it repackages the audio and video your encoder produced and sends them on. There is no generation loss and very little added latency. That also means every destination gets the codecs and bitrates you encoded, so pick settings your platforms accept.

What is the probe?

The probe is a second address for the same stream key. Anything you send there is analysed and shown in the dashboard but never forwarded. Use it to check renditions, audio tracks, keyframe interval and SRT link health before you go live. A probe runs alongside a live session without touching it.

How do I send several renditions from OBS?

OBS 30.2 and newer can encode several renditions at once with enhanced RTMP multitrack video. Use the Custom service with your Streamiply server and key, enable multitrack video, and every rendition shows up in the probe. Then route them per destination.

What happens when my connection drops?

Your destinations stop receiving video and may disconnect or end the broadcast. Streamiply keeps its session open for your configured reconnect window, up to 60 seconds, so your encoder can resume it. This does not guarantee that a platform keeps you live or preserves the same broadcast. Stopping the stream in your encoder ends the session immediately.

Which region should I use?

The one closest to your encoder. A shorter path means a lower round trip and fewer lost packets, which matters most for SRT and SRTLA from mobile networks. Your stream key works in every region, so you can switch whenever you travel.

What is the limit on the Free plan?

Free includes two destinations, streaming up to 1080p, and the full probe and routing matrix. Each session ends after 30 minutes; reconnect to start a new session. The upcoming Basic, Starter, and Pro plans remove the session time limit.
